A Corrective and Preventive Action system (CAPA) is at the heart of any effective Quality Management System (QMS) regardless of the scope and size of the organization.

The purpose of such system is to collect information, analyze information, identify and investigate product and quality issues, and take appropriate and effective corrective and/or preventive action to prevent recurrence of a problem.

It is linked to many other parts of your quality system: internal audits, change control, process and equipment monitoring, non-conforming records, management review, design control, supplier audits, and complaints.
